PVS-50 & PVS-50-M1
Compact Machine Vision Systems
(Windows CE Image Processing System)
The exterior of the PVS-50-M1
Machine Vision System is similar to our PVS-30
compact machine vision system and it uses the same
progressive-scan sensors. However, that is where the similarity between
the two family of products ends. The PVS-50-M1 is available is a 8.4" flat
panel display with touch screen capability. The display may be attached
directly to the control unit or mounted remotely with the proper cabling.
The PVS-50-M1 offers
a more powerful Central
Processing Unit (CPU) with greater image processing
capabilities. The system implements the Microsoft Windows CE operating
system to handle the house-keeping and communication functions. The
PVS-50-M1 offers two high-speed USB ports and a high-speed EtherNet port (Tx
10/100). This allows the user to simply plug-and-play keyboards, mouse and
other USB devices for added programming functionality.
Show above is the PVS-50-M1, Standard Configuration
includes a built-in 8.4" Touch
Screen Flat Panel Display packaged in a NEMA-4
enclosure.
The PVS-50-M1 features state-of-the-art technology at half the price of
comparable systems. The system offer 256 level grayscale processing as well as
the more common binary processing. The PVS-50-M1 can use two 1/3-inch format
progressive-scan sensors.
Each system has two camera inputs and allows
two images to be acquired simultaneously! The PVS-50-M1 also includes a programmable logic
controller with 16 inputs, 16 outputs and a dedicated "ready" line. There
are 16 internal count-down timers and
16 internal count-down counters. There
are 64 internal System Relays that can be used for both input and output program
control. There are 1024 Auxiliary Relays that can be used as inputs or
outputs for measurement results and program logic.

Internal I/O Standard Configuration
PVS-50-M1 Image processor (Standard Configuration)
[other processor configurations available for additional cost]
- IVS-51M (Hitachi SH4 chipset, 200 MHz CPU, 100 MHz bus)
- LCD Monitor Output (Digital), Feed-through video signal (VGA)
- Menu Programming using Touch Screen
- Processing can be either 256 grayscale or binary.
- Region of Interest can be Circular, Ellipse, Rectangular,
Polygon or Free-Shape (easier when drawn with mouse).
- Image processing tools allow Sub-pixel measurement Accuracy, High-speed
Pattern Matching, Part Rotation Correction (360°, ±45°,
±15°),
Edge Calipers and Blob Analysis.
- Optical System Configuration Settings:
Focus Adjustment
Contrast Adjustment
Image Distortion Diagnosis & Compensation
Image Calibration
- Built-in light level meter that provides low light alarm and automatic
threshold adjustment.
- The image processor incorporates hardware for fast normalized correlation
operations (8 ms for 64 x 64 pixel model in a 256 x 256
pixel search area).
- All programming functions are performed "On-line" so that you
can "see" the results of parameter adjustments in real-time.
Inspection results may be displayed on the external monitor.
The PVS-50-M1 series image processors offer the control engineer
a very attractive alternative to more expensive PC based machine vision systems or less than
reliable intelligent sensors. The system is packaged for industrial applications
in a heavy-duty NEMA type 4 or type 12 enclosure with
internal re-circulating air, exchanged external forced air cooling
(Vented Fans), sealed heat exchanger or solid-state
air
conditioning unit. The PVS-50-M1
right-side plate is designed to accommodate all of the afore mentioned cooling
techniques and may retrofit in plant if required.
The PVS-50-M1
product includes all the necessary components required for system installation. PVS-50-M1 series products can be removed from their shipping containers and mounted in the plant environment without modification.
